Before ordering or removing the original system
- Confirm the year, make, model, engine, drivetrain, body style, wheelbase, and emissions qualifier selected in the catalog.
- Read every fitment note. Production dates, Federal or California emissions, and other qualifiers can change the required parts.
- Compare the replacement parts with the original system, including bends, pipe diameter, flange style, hangers, sensor ports, and connection locations.
- Inspect clamps, gaskets, bolts, hangers, heat shields, and oxygen sensors. Replace worn installation hardware where required.
Safety and preparation
- Work only on a cool exhaust system in a well-ventilated area.
- Use appropriate eye, hand, and hearing protection.
- Lift the vehicle only at manufacturer-approved points and support it with equipment rated for the vehicle.
- Support each exhaust section before loosening clamps or hangers.
- Follow the vehicle manufacturer's service information and torque specifications.
During installation
Loosely assemble and align the system before final tightening. Confirm clearance around the body, suspension, fuel and brake lines, heat shields, and driveshaft. Exhaust components should not be placed under tension or allowed to contact the vehicle.
Final checks
After installation, check for leaks, vibration, contact, and abnormal noise. Reinspect alignment and fasteners after the first heat cycles. Stop using the vehicle and have the installation inspected if exhaust gases may be entering the cabin.
Professional installation is strongly recommended when the work involves cutting, welding, seized hardware, catalytic converters, sensors, or emissions-controlled components.
